No narrator. No history lecture. You meet the people who were inside. Four true stories, four paired cocktails, ninety minutes, no intermission.

Drink

Four craft cocktails, each paired to a story. Poured with intent. Sipped when told.

Descend

Actors bring you inside four extraordinary true stories — one believer, follower, insider or witness at a time. By candlelight, close enough to touch.

Discover

Nobody explains what happened. You hear it from someone who was there — and decide for yourself what you'd have done.

Stories I–IV

Four true stories

No narrator, no lecture — the actors are the story. Each one arrives with its own cocktail, poured at the moment it matters.

Between pours

Raise a glass

That's the extent of your participation. No one is singled out, called up, or embarrassed. You may be asked to repeat a toast. That's all. Probably.

The room unseals

90 minutes after doors, you're released back into the ordinary world. What happens in the room stays in the room.

The stories

Four true stories. Told from the inside.

STORY I

1920s Sicily

Aleister Crowley & the Abbey of Thelema

Occult ritual. Sex, drugs, scandal — and Crowley's infamous experiment in communal life.

STORY II

Oregon, 1980s

Rajneeshpuram

A guru. Thousands of followers. A city built from nothing — and a conflict that spiraled wildly out of control.

STORY III

New York, 1998–2018

NXIVM

It began with executive coaching and self-improvement. What happened behind closed doors was something else entirely.

STORY IV

California, 1997

Heaven's Gate

Thirty-nine believers. A comet. And the absolute conviction that something extraordinary was waiting beyond this world.

Four cults. Four cocktails.

Zero-proof versions included, no extra charge

Aleister Crowley

Do What Thou Wilt

Dark, rich and decadent: vodka, cold brew, coffee liqueur, amaretto and vanilla-demerara. Named for Crowley’s infamous law: “Do what thou wilt.”

Rajneeshpuram

Big Muddy Sunrise

A bright tequila, orange and lime cocktail with pomegranate-cardamom grenadine. Its warm orange-to-red glow recalls the colors of Rajneeshpuram and the Oregon ranch they called The Big Muddy.

III

NXIVM

Executive Success

A polished Maple Old Fashioned of bourbon, Vermont maple and bitters. Named for NXIVM’s Executive Success Programs — a promise of self-improvement that became something very different.

Heaven’s Gate

The Next Level

A pale lavender twist on the late-’90s Cosmopolitan: citrus vodka, orange liqueur, white cranberry, lime and just a touch of violet. Named for the “Next Level” Heaven’s Gate believed waited beyond this world.

Ask us anything. Almost.

A note before you book: these are true stories involving death and coercive control, told with respect — never for shock. Questions? Write to us — a human answers.

Is this scary?

No. It's a night out, not a haunt. Dark stories, great drinks, no one grabs your ankle.

Is it real?

Yes — all four stories are true. Some of the people you'll meet are historical figures; others are composites drawn from real accounts.

Do I have to participate?

Only as much as raising a glass. No one is singled out, called on stage, or embarrassed.

What's the age policy?

21+ with valid ID, no exceptions — even for zero-proof guests.

I don't drink. Should I still come?

Yes. Zero-proof versions of all four pours are included at no charge — just tell us when you book.

Is there food? Parking?

Most venues serve light bites at the bar. Parking varies by venue — your confirmation email has the exact address.

Refunds and transfers?

Tickets are transferable anytime — just forward your confirmation. Refunds up to 72 hours before doors — email hello@cultsandcocktails.com and a human will sort it.

Can I book it for a group or birthday?

Yes, and everyone seated together. During Early Bird every ticket is already $10 off, which replaces the 10% group discount (they don’t combine).

Buy out a showtime. Or bring the cult to your venue.

Corporate offsites, birthdays, bachelorettes — any occasion that deserves better than trivia night. We handle the drinks, the stories, and the part nobody stops talking about on Monday.
